Wizard of Oz Family Party

For the last few years my siblings and I have decided that rather than giving presents for Christmas we would have a memory every year together. The first year we had a Kung Fu Panda party where Cindy and I made Kimonos for everyone. We ate chinese food and watched Kund Fu Panda!

Last year we had a Willie Wonka and the Charlie Factory party. We all dressed up like characters from the movies and we decorated the house with a ton of candy and had a chocolate fondue stream and did activities during the movie like eating candy off of the wall or drinking sparkling cider during the part that they drank the bubbles.

This year we had a Wizard of Oz party where we all choose out characters. I was the wicked witch, Tevan was the uncle farmer or the scarecrow, Addie was Dorothy, Brookie was the Lullaby League munchkin, Spencer was the Lollipop Guild munchkin.
This year we missed Ricky who is serving a mission and it was just the sisters planning it out. We had a yellow brick road. We made out of paper sacks a roof of Dorothy's house and made our rendition of a Emerald City/Castle out of wrapping paper. We started out by eating a pot roast dinner with garlic mashed potatoes(mainly because I have been craving them like crazy)

We watched the movie with the subtitles on and sang along with the songs. We got bubbles and every time we saw Glenda we would blow the bubbles. When we saw the Lollipop guild we ate a lollipop. When she sang Somewhere over the rainbow we ate skittles. When the Scarecrow came up and wanted to be smarter we stopped the movie and wrote down one thing we wanted to learn this year. When the tin man came up and wanted a heart we wrote down a service we wanted to do. When the Lion came up we wrote down a fear we wanted to overcome. When the monkeys came up we wrote down something fun we wanted to do. At the end of the movie we wrote a note of something we admired about one another and put the note in each others envelope.

At the end we had a jello brain for dessert and a yummy apple pie that some friends brought over that night. All in all we had a great night full of wonderful memories!
