Here are pictures of the kids from the Home school 2010 Olympics. We have been covering Greek Mythology in our History studies along with the Old Testament and got to participate the olympics with some families from church. We had 17 participants there along with a few little kids who were not interested in participating in the games. They did 3 legged race, wheel barrow, tug a war, keep the balloon up, archery, race with an egg on a spoon, throw the ring on the cone, relay races, and regular running race, shot put and disc, Then after we were all finished we got to watch the jr high and high school band who happened to be getting ready for a parade for homecoming. They were preparing for the parade at the park we were at.
Yesterday I got to have 5 or so girls over for a fairy party. We had pizza and cupcakes (sugar frosting of course). We watched a fairy movie with Tinkerbelle in it. Then they painted or colored some fairy pictures and they played with these bracelets. It was very exciting.
Funny things Brookie has been saying:
She read a story about a fish that ate a rock and then the fish was eaten by a cow and the cow said "I feel sick" so I asked Brookie why the cow was sick and she said because he was not carnivorous.
Yesterday she put a praying mantis in a bug container and then she caught a cricket. Well that praying mantis tore apart that little cricket. It was great entertainment. She has been capturing little baby lizards recently and both of the girls have been looking for snakes.
I noticed a bag of chocolate chips had been opened and it looked at some had been eaten. So I asked Brookie if she was the one who was eating them. She said if I tell you will I get in trouble? I said yes. She started to cry. I started laughing. I wished I had moments like those on video.
One day when we were doing school and she was not looking for lizards she declared "This is the worst day of my life." She was not happy when I started laughing at her. The funny thing was she was barfing her brains out a few days before. I thought that day would have been a lot worse.
Other things I have been up to. I am organizing and throwing stuff away. I think there has been a mouse out in the storage garage area so I am cleaning that area out again. I organized all of Spencers toys into little plastic shoe boxes. We got to go out and pick a bunch of apples a week or so ago and I am still trying to decide what to do with all of the apples we have. I have been making a lot of smoothies every day! I love it.
Grandma Barrus had her 81st birthday on Wednesday and Mom, Cheryl, Joyce, and Grandma all wore Mumus to a restaurant. There is a picture attached for your pure enjoyment.
Oh Mom, Cindy and I are breaking free and are going to San Diego next weekend. I am breaking free from the kids thanks to a wonderful Husband and Mother in-law! Alicia is turing 30 so we are going to celebrate!
My little brother who is serving a mission in Minneapolis is going to be going through another surgery soon for a double hernia. He had his appendix taken out in April. So we are praying for him!
